I first heard about this amazing person Randy Pausch on Oprah and was very inspired by him. I would like to share with all of you the video of his last lecture and hope that you will gain something from it. Sadly Randy Pausch passed away on July 25, 2008 at the age of 47.
As a pageant director, trainer and lecturer, I have met so many young people who are so pessimistic in life. Maybe Randy's words can help you to see how fortunate you are and to make the most of your life goals and dreams. Here is his "Last Lecture"
MONEY NO ENOUGH 2
This movie will be well received by most Singaporeans especially HDB dwellers who will be able to identify with most of the characters in the movie. I like the way comedy was used to highlight some of the local social and political issues that are on the minds of the majority of Singaporeans today. For example the increase in ERP gantries. This movie depiction of the imaginary reaction of Singaporeans will be the closes we will ever see to an actual physical uprising and protest march. I believe in the hearts of Singaporeans we really want to protest but in reality we have no courage to actually do so and the closes a Singaporean will come to protesting is complaining to each other as pointed out in the movie. Once again Jack Neo has given a voice to the man on the street with his movie.
Another social issue highlighted was the treatment of elderly parents in our society today. Jack Neo successfully made the audience re-think our actions and behaviour towards our elderly parents and how the chase of wealth can result in selfish and abusive behaviour in some of us.
Neo studios should take this opportunity to use this movie and work with non-profit organization to draw attention to the elderly abuse problem we have in our society today.
The only disappointment I have is with the ending although it is true, regret will not last long and people will move on. The sense of remorse did not come through strongly.
Overall I would give this movie 3/4 stars and recommend that we all watch and support this local production. Just be aware that it may not be suitable for young children due to the use of certain languages in the movie. Remember to bring a box of tissue with you.
Best actress goes to the Malaysian actress who played the role of the mother. She was fantastic!
I created a video for the photos as I had a hard time uploading the photos one by one. I chose a cantonese song by Theresa Theng because the movie Money No Enough uses several languages and it seems to suit the image. Anyway we had fun last night so do enjoy the video
Monday evening, Fredrick, Serene, Jillian, Yong Ying and myself were invited to the Premier of Jack Neo's new movie "Money No Enough 2". When we got to the cinema, we met up with Peter, Director of Aremyhair, one of my friend and sponsor and Kelvin Sng my film Director friend who is in the process of making his own first full length movie. We went for dinner at Vivo city because the premier was at Golden Village Vivo City with red carpet and everything. The food was great. We then went back to watch the Red carpet event after which we had to part ways with Peter and Kelvin because they got the VIP tickets which we did not have. However before the show started, Jack Neo, Mark Lee, Henry, etc came by to our cinema and said some nice words. The girls took lots of photos with my Nikon Coolpix and I have created an album in my blog so do check it out. I highly recommend that you go watch the movie, it will make you laugh and cry at the same time. It touches on many issues Singaporeans are dealing with at the moment. They even managed to get an MP to act as himself in one scene! Anyway do catch the movie when it opens which is on 29 August.
Yesterday, I met up with the Sweetheart Contestants at Fish & Co. It was great to see all of them again. The food was good, the company as well. Took lots of photos but I forgot to charged my Nikon Coolpix S520 camera so I was unable to take any photos. Will try to get some from the girls. Everyone was taking photos for their blog and some of them actually bought Nikon Coolpix for themselves. I am not kidding, Nikon range of cameras is really wonderful to use.
We made Loren sing with the band at Fish & Co and she actually when up to perform! Loren has the most beautiful voice and it is truly a gift from God. She is also funny and has a great personality. Loren is going to surprise many people one day soon.
This whole week has been so hectic for me. I have been running around meeting people and doing my training at Singapore Polytechnic. By the way, this pageant business is my passion and not my bread and butter. I am a corporate trainer and Poly lecturer that is how I earn my keep. Anyway so tired, not enough rest and now I am sick again. Decided to rest this morning until my meeting at 2.30pm.
Actually I wanted to go to the wake of Alvin's father-in-law who pass away just recently (Alvin from Philosophy Iron) but I am sick again and I don't want to go there sick. I will try to order some flowers to send to them instead. My prayers are with Mabel and Alvin during these sad times. They are not just my sponsors but my friends too.
Well I will keep on blogging even though the pageant is over because I just enjoy sharing things with all of you. I will be putting up the blogs of my 3 new title-holders on my website soon so that you can follow their journey as we groom and prepare them for exciting opportunities. So do stay tune. And take care of yourself the flu bug is really going around.
